PROJECT DESCRIPTION
UNSEEN is an interactive book about different types of visual impairments. My aim was to make people aware that visual perception of the world is not uniform and that visual impairments are much more diverse than what society is generally aware of. Each type of vision is accompanied by a pair of pages with a photograph, with transparent tracing paper to simulate that particular vision; folded down, the basic view becomes visible. Braille is included throughout the book, so that it is aimed at both sighted and visually impaired readers - treating the dual target groups as equals. From the design to the hand-binding and Braille printing, I did every detail myself, including the embossed cover. Building on visual empathy, UNSEEN encourages openness, dialogue and dignified presence towards a more inclusive world.
